Ross Curnett, DPT, OMT-C

Ross Curnett, DPT, OMT-C — Physical Therapy in Charleston, SC
A Rhode Island native, Ross migrated south to Charleston, SC in 2001 to pursue a B.S. in Exercise Science at the College of Charleston. After graduation in 2005, he enrolled at the Medical University of South Carolina and earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2008 and in addition, he earned an Orthopedic Manual Therapy certificate from MUSC in 2013.

In 2010, Ross's longtime dream and vision came to life with the birth of Atlas Physical Therapy in Summerville, SC. Since its inception, Atlas has grown to 3 locations in the low country and proudly strives to be the leader in outpatient therapy services.

Ross is the lead physical therapist and clinical director of the North Charleston clinic and specializes in outpatient orthopedics with special interests in manual therapy with an emphasis on spinal manipulation and trigger point dry needling.

Ross also has considerable experience with postoperative shoulder and knee rehab and has observed multiple surgical procedures (rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, and general shoulder/knee arthroscopy) Ross spends his free time enjoying an active lowcountry life with his wife Jamie, oldest son Chase, youngest son Elias, and their dog Izzy.


Diane O'Brien, PTA

Diane O'Brien, PTA — Physical Therapy in Charleston, SC
Diane grew up in Long Island, NY and earned her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education at L.I. University Southampton Campus. In 1994 she and her husband relocated to Charleston to escape the brutal winters up north.

Growing up Diane was very active in sports. She began playing soccer when she was 10 years old. She received a college scholarship to play for Southampton College. Currently, she is still active playing soccer & has played in the adult league for the City of Charleston for 23 years. Diane's interest in sports medicine sparked when her mom underwent physical therapy for adhesive capsulitis. In 1994, Diane sustained an injury while playing soccer & had to undergo ACL reconstruction. Her experience in postoperative rehabilitation convinced her to pursue a career in sports medicine.

In 2001, she earned an associate's degree as a physical therapist assistant from Trident Technical College and has been working in the outpatient setting for over 16 years. She joined the Atlas team in 2011. She enjoys working with patients through the rehabilitation process & helping them to reach their recreational, sport, & functional goals. Diane currently lives in West Ashley with her husband & 3 dogs. She enjoys being outdoors, camping & going to the beach.


Stephen McGuigan, PTA

Diane O'Brien, PTA — Physical Therapy in Charleston, SC
A South Carolina native, Stephen grew up in Columbia, SC with his mother, father, and twin brother, Mark. He moved to Charleston in 2005 where he completed his Bachelors of Art in Biology at The College of Charleston in 2009.

After graduation, Stephen enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Trident Technical College earning summa cum laude praise upon completion of his Associate's in Health Science.

Stephen joined the Atlas Physical Therapy team in 2015 where he enjoys the fast-paced environment focusing on post-surgical shoulder, knee, and hip rehabilitation. In his free time, Stephen enjoys the Charleston lifestyle with his wife Leander and their Pitbull mix Camden. He has involved himself in many projects for their new home located in Hanahan, South Carolina and enjoys spending time at the beach, exercising, and sporting events.

Tom Welsh, DPT, CSCS

Tom Welsh, DPT, CSCS — Physical Therapy in Charleston, SC
Tom Welsh is a Lead Physical Therapist and Clinic Director of our Summerville location.

Tom treats his patients with a unique combination of orthopedic and biomechanical analysis. He has an extensive manual therapy skill set with a specialization in trigger point/functional dry needling. He himself has an athletic background having experience in playing competitive baseball, football, lacrosse, power lifting and wrestling throughout school.

In 2007, He completed his bachelor's degree in Applied Exercise Science with strong concentrations in Strength and Conditioning and Personal Training (Springfield College,MA). After his internship as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist in the NFL, Tom received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Upstate Medical University in 2010. He was also a co-founder of a strength and conditioning facility for young athletes while in PT school and is formally a USA Weightlifting Club Coach.

Tom prides himself on implementing cutting edge, evidence-based treatment with a priority emphasis on quality of care. Golf rehabilitation and performance training are also a strong focus for Tom in the Summerville office. Tyler Starkweather, DPT

Tyler Starkweather, DPT — Physical Therapy in Charleston, SC
Tyler relocated to the low country in 2015 from Green Bay, Wisconsin to join the Atlas Physical Therapy team. He received both a Bachelors of Exercise Science and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Tyler enjoyed participating in sports throughout his childhood and into college. His personal athletic related injuries sparked an affinity for the outpatient orthopedic setting.

He enjoys spending time outside, exploring the Low Country, participating in athletics, and staying active in the community.

Isabel Bosso, DPT, LMT, CSCS

Isabel Bosso, DPT, LMT, CSCS — Physical Therapy in Charleston, SC
Isabel Bosso is the Clinic Director of our Mount Pleasant location.

Originally from Charleston, Isabel received her Bachelor's degree from Clemson University in Health Science. Prior to attending physical therapy school, she became a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and attended Massage Therapy School at Trident Technical College. She then went the University of St. Augustine where she received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She is currently working towards her manual therapy certification and specializes in general orthopedics and sports medicine.

In her free time, Isabel enjoys spending time with her husband, participating in all forms of exercise, and running on the beach with her dog Diesel.


Nathan Jones, DPT, CSCS

Nathan Jones, DPT, CSCS — Physical Therapy in Charleston, SC
Originally hailing from the mountains of Colorado, Nathan joined the Marine Corps out of high school and ultimately ended up stationed in Georgia. After the military, Nathan earned a B.S. in exercise science in 2013, then migrated to Charleston to attend MUSC's physical therapy program. While finishing his doctorate of physical therapy in 2016, Nathan became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Nathan spends most of his free time in various gyms and weight rooms, and has competed in powerlifting, strongman, and Cross fit, earning several wins and a North Carolina tire dead lift state record.
